“I’m a vegan too, but —”

SIGH. What. What is it.

Do you not “shove your beliefs onto others”? (implying that other vegans that speak openly about veganism and are unapologetic in the face of carnist opposition are shoving their beliefs.)

Do you “respect other people’s ‘personal choice’ about their diet choices”? (since a choice that results in the end of someone else’s life/desecration of their body is strictly ‘personal’, and anyone who believes otherwise is ‘oppressive’, because someone who got their feelings hurt said so.)

Do you quietly pick out the meat, dairy, or eggs in your food when a restaurant fucks up your order? (heaven forbid a vegan, or anyone else for that matter, sends a plate back when they are unhappy with the food they’re paying for. Also, have you heard the roadkill analogy? and you still don’t want to upset anyone by speaking up about the dead carcass in your dish?)

Congratulations!!! Here is your special Apologist cookie, and your trophy for Most Carnist-Pleasing Rhetoric, and your Not Hurting Anyone’s Feelings gold medal. Congrats on sitting firmly on the fence because you don’t want to choose a side and stick with it 100%.
